Review: A little slice of spa heaven, less than an hour from Dublin

Review: A little slice of spa heaven, less than an hour from Dublin

Less than an hour from Dublin, the newly revamped Spa at Dunboyne Castle offers a thoughtful blend of luxury and wellness all designed to help you truly switch off, writes Dominique McMullan.

There’s something really lovely about finding a proper escape that doesn’t involve planes, long drives or serious logistics. Less than an hour from Dublin, the newly revamped spa at Dunboyne Castle feels like a bit of a hidden gem – calm, just revamped and just the right kind of luxurious.

The new Thermal Suite is the star here. There’s an infrared sauna (a skincare dream), a herb sauna, a Himalayan salt room, an outdoor jacuzzi and an ice-cold bucket to dunk over yourself before you leave – if that’s your thing! It’s all designed so you can move through the heat, the cold, the stillness, whatever your body needs that day.

They’ve also partnered with two gorgeous wellness brands: Ground Wellbeing (Irish, sustainable and rooted in real care) and Comfort Zone (clean, conscious skincare that actually works). The result is a spa menu with a range of treatments that are thoughtful and generous, whether you want a proper massage or just a really good pedicure in their lovely new nail space.

It’s clear that a lot of love has gone into this new update, and there’s more to come, too. But even now, The Spa at Dunboyne Castle is the kind of place that makes you exhale the second you walk in the door, and when it’s only an hour from Dublin… what more could you want?
